Print Recipe
- 1 cup coarsely ground coffee beans medium or dark roast
- 4 cups cold filtered water for concentrate
- (Optional) Sweeteners like simple syrup honey, agave, or sugar-free options
- (Optional) Milk cream, or plant-based milk for serving
Grind the coffee beans to a coarse consistency.
Combine the ground coffee and cold filtered water in a French press, large jar, or carafe.
Stir gently to make sure all grounds are saturated.
Cover and steep at room temperature or in the fridge for 12 to 24 hours.
Strain through a French press, cheesecloth, coffee filter, or mesh strainer into a clean container.
Store the cold brew concentrate in the fridge in a sealed jar or bottle for up to 1 week.
To Serve:
Dilute the concentrate with water, milk, or creamer. A common ratio is 2:1 (coffee to liquid), or 1:1 for a lighter taste.
Add sweetener if desired.
Serve over ice or cold brew ice cubes (freeze concentrate in an ice tray for undiluted drinks).
Optional toppings: whipped cream, cinnamon, cardamom, or flavored syrups.
- Use filtered water for the best flavor.
- Always grind beans fresh before brewing.
- Try Shruthi’s tip: Pour extra cold brew into an ice cube tray to avoid watering down your drink.
- Compost or reuse spent grounds in your garden — they make excellent natural fertilizer.
