What's sweet, sour, and all-around delicious? This Non-Alcoholic Whiskey Sour! Rich and smooth with an essence of smoky bourbon barrels. If an alcohol-free whiskey sour is what you crave, this is going to be the perfect drink. Serve it on the rocks or up in a coupe glass with or without egg white.
An oldie but a goodie in the world of cocktails. When picking a brand of zero proof spirits for this cocktail, I highly recommend Spiritless (Woman owned!) or Lyre's products. Both really bring out a deep smokey flavor that complements the sweetness and tartness of this mocktail so well. A great alcohol-free option for even the most sophisticated whiskey connoisseur.
If it's raw egg that gives you the ick, you can omit that altogether. Unfortunately, you won't have that frothy twist on top without the egg white. Good news is, there are some solutions to this, which we will discuss further down! Then get classy and serve your drink with a cocktail cherry. Not just any ol' maraschino cherry, but brandied maraschino cherries. You'll find these in your cocktail mixer section of the store. They're a bit pricier than their bright red counterpart, but their flavor is a mild sweetness that won't take away from the drink.

Ingredients For Alcohol-Free Whiskey Sour
- Spiritless Kentucky 74 Non-Alcoholic Bourbon
- Fresh Lemon juice: Fresh is best, plus you can grab a nice lemon peel garnish from your lemon as well.
- Simple Syrup
- Egg whites
- Garnish: All The Bitters, Cocktail cherries
Other sugars for homemade simple syrups
- Cane Sugar - Cane sugar syrup is earthier, bolder, and gives a toasted sugar flavor than white sugar. Not as strong as turbinado or molasses.
- Brown Sugar - This syrup is called Demerara Syrup. Great for coffee cocktails and darker beverages.
- Palm Sugar - Golden in color with a cotton candy sweetness.
- Honey - 3:2 honey to water ratio.
- Agave Nectar- 2:1 agave to water.

How To Make The Perfect Whiskey Sour Mocktail

- Dry shake (without ice) for 15 seconds. Add ice to the shaker, then shake again for another 15-20 seconds.
- Double strain with your cocktail shaker into a fine mesh sieve over your chilled coupe glass.
- Add 3-4 drops of bitters to the top of your drink. Garnish with a few cocktail cherries on a cocktail pick.
Ways To Serve A Whiskey Sour
There are a couple of ways you can serve your whiskey sour mocktail. I love this served in a coupe glass; it's just the right amount of liquid, and I don't need to fuss around with ice.
- Served Up: To serve it UP, is to strain and serve your cocktail in a stemmed cocktail glass without ice.
- Served on the rocks: To serve your cocktail on the rocks, is to strain and serve the whiskey sour over ice. I'd recommend a single large piece of fresh ice, or a few larger pieces. Large ice will dilute your drink slower than a handful of ice.
Non Alcoholic Whiskey Sour Recipe Variations
With Egg White (Boston Sour):
- Add ½ an egg white before shaking to give the drink a creamy texture.
- Dry shake (shake without ice) first, then shake with ice.
Without Egg White:
- Skip the egg white for a lighter and less frothy texture.
Cocktail Foaming Alternative:
- Aquafaba: This ingredient is the liquid found in a can of chickpeas. Aquafaba contains proteins and starches that mimic the foaming properties of egg whites when shaken. For this mocktail, use ½ tablespoon in place of the egg white.
- Fee Foam Cocktail Foamer: This is a premade foaming agent made specifically for cocktails when something like an egg white is needed but not available or used when someone cannot consume eggs.
Garnishes:
- Classic Lemon Twist: Express the oils from a lemon twist over the drink by giving it a twist over the surface, then drop it into the glass.
- Cherry Garnish: Add a maraschino cherry for a sweet and colorful touch.
- Orange Twist: Substitute or combine with an orange twist for a citrusy twist.
- Slice of Lemon: Garnish the rim with a thin lemon wheel for a visually appealing presentation.

Expert Notes
- Dry shake: This term means to shake in a cocktail shaker without ice.
- Double strain: This term means to strain out of your cocktail shaker with either the lid that came with it or a hawthorn strainer, into a mesh strainer over your glass. This strains out any stray ice pieces and helps the form sit nicely on top.
